I just purchased this grille (from another site) and installed it on my 06 mustang this past Saturday afternoon. The `Eleanor' grille looks to be made of the same type of plastic that the original grille is made from, and feels just about as durable. It also seems to have more openings within the honeycomb areas. The grille kit that I purchased comes with the grille (of course), wiring extenders, superwhite bulbs (the bright blue-ish white type), a tri-color pony grille emblem, and a small package of a few assorted parts. NOTE: I can't say if yours will come with the emblem, or the superwhite bulbs.
The instructions state that you must remove the front bumper to remove the grille, but my son happened to recall seeing instructions on the web that states this will not be necessary if you take your time.
I used two small flat head screwdrivers to pry-up the push-clips that hold the radiator top plastic cover. The push-clips are two pieces, so you will be gently prying up the center piece of the clip. Once you have up the center, you can cautiously pull out the entire clip. There are about six or eight of these clips (I can't remember which now).
There are two hex head screws that need to be removed. Each one is located at the general area of the top-side of the radiator. If you look at the part of the body that is the divider between the headlight and the grille area and move upward until you see one of these hex head screws. It's the same location on the other side of the radiator area.
Next, you be addressing the grille clips that hold the grille to the radiator/bumper area. This was the most difficult and nervous period.
If you look around the `Eleanor'grille, you will see an example of those clips. Those same clips of the grille will go into the same radiator/bumper area once you remove the old grille. I had to use the longest Allen wrench that was as skinny as I could get. I used that wrench to help pry back the plastic safety clip of the body radiator area that helps hold in the grille clip. The amount of prying back that I had to do made me feel that I would break the plastic body safety clips at anytime, but I was surprised that I never did with any of them, although I can't say that you will not be as lucky as myself. Oh, you will have to do something like this even if you follow their instructions to remove the entire bumper. The two sides were the most difficult, and the bottom seemed to be the easiest. This part of the removal took about 30 minutes, but it sped up more as I learned how to handle these clip areas. This same area of your install may go faster, or slower.
Once the grille is out and you have disconnected the light harnesses, swapping out the lights goes pretty easy, just make sure that you use the new screws that hold in the lights instead of the old ones. The old ones are a little longer and could penetrate the grille if you use them.
The rest of the install is easy and you can follow the supplied instructions from this point forward, and reinstalling the grill is a breeze. Although I didn't time myself, I would have to guess the entire install took somewhere around an hour and a half.
One comment about the supplied bulbs. 3dCarbon supplied my grille kit with super white bulbs that have been modified to be held in with a metal clip. They offer normal bulbs, but they have been modified too. I really am not crazy about the super white bulbs and would have opted for the normal if I had known. You'll have to purchase replacement bulbs from 3dCarbon for about $25 a piece since they modify them themselves, unless you have the patience to grind off plastic with something like a Dremel tool.
