I own a 2000 Chevy Silverado 1/2 ton 2wd pickup and recently installed four new Monroe Reflex Shocks on it. I run BF Goodrich T/A Radials 285/60r/16 tires. I just wanted to right this review so potential shock buyers out there might have this information to look at when making a choice of which shock they want to go with.
First let me warn any Edelbrock fans out there about there shocks. I had these shocks for a short time and when I installed them and went for a test drive they felt very soft, but did have a comfortable ride. Well, as time went on it seemed like each month they got worse and worse with the softness and then noticed the truck just handled terribly in turns, with any kind of wind, small bumps, and stopping. I will save you some time with this shock brand by Edelbrock. They are awful and potentially dangerous after just a few months of normal driving.
Now onto the Monroe Reflex Shocks I did some research on before purchasing. Everything about these shocks as advertised by Monroe is right on! These shocks are absolutely the best truck shock I have ever had on any of my trucks. If you want a shock that has comfort, handling, excellent brake handling and the right amount of firmness, then this is what you need. As soon as I installed these Reflex shocks I noticed instantly these were superior shocks by Monroe. The body roll in turns is gone leaving you hugging the road in sharp curves and turns. The ride is very comfortable and when hitting hard bumps, these shocks allow you to go right over them in comfort. These shocks really do keep your tires on the road in all situations. Then there is the braking improvement you get with these shocks. Trust me when I say, if you want the best truck shock out there, then these are the ones you will be very impressed with. Let me tell you a little secret as well. Amazon sold me all four shocks with free shipping for $185 total. Sears and other Monroe dealers were selling these for $324 for four shocks and that is without even installing them. Thank you Amazon for deals like this!
