(More customer reviews)Ordered this even after reading the review stating how difficult to install. It took me two minutes at best. You need two flat head screw drivers. Using both flat heads around the plastic ring about 1/4" apart, the ring easily peels off. Putting the ring on the new cap is a cinch! I wouldn't recommend installing in cold weather. You need to stretch the factory plastic ring a little . . . so some warmth is a plus! (Now don't use a flame you idiot!) Usually these types of parts are installed by "professionals" and no instructions are needed for these types of items. However, you need not to be a rocket scientist either. Just a little common sense!

Adjustable Vehicle Safety Tow Bar - 5000 LB Capacity with Safety Chains Review

(More customer reviews)I was looking for an adequate but low-cost tow bar and this one seems up to the job. After I have used it I will update this review. The unit I received did not have four safety chains [as shown in the current Amazon pic], it only had two. Also, it was short on hardware. I will point these out individually:
NUTS FOR U-BOLTS: My unit came with eight, two per u-bolt, you will need to get eight more PLUS eight lock washers if you really want the u-bolts to be reliable anchors for your safety chains.
LOCK WASHERS: In addition to the eight you need that I mention above, you will need four to go on the bolts that hold the two arms to the connector.
BUMPER CONNECTOR PLATES: My unit only had the one side of the connector plates, you will need to buy the other side or have a welding shop fab them up for you if you are going to bolt the unit directly to the bumper of a vehicle.
I did not want to bolt the tow bar to a vehicle bumper, here is what I did: I have a 5" drop hitch that slides into a Hidden Hitch Class 3, 2" receiver on our tow vehicle. Using that and a setup with two military-grade heavy duty clevis hooks per arm I think that I will be able to tow most light vehicles on typical city streets and highways so long as I watch out for deep dips and curbs. The clevis hooks came from Amazon merchant, Sportsmans Guide, Item #WX2-75834.

Driver and Passenger Side (Pair) Euro Black Projector Headlights Review

(More customer reviews)I have bought many types of Depo lights (headlights, marker lights, fogs) over the years and one thing I have discovered is that they ALWAYS leak water and mist up inside the lens if you don't seal them first. Someone showed me an easy way to prevent this, however. Before installing the lights for the first time, I run a bead of Seal All on the entire seam where the clear lens meets the body of the light and let it dry. You can find Seal All at most auto parts or hardware stores, it's like a big yellow tube of airplane glue. Be careful not to get any Seal All on the clear lens, even for a second, because like airplane glue it will never come off.
When I seal my Depo lights first, I never get water or misting inside the lens. When I don't, the Depos always leak and mist up, it's as simple as that. Once you get past this problem, the Depos last forever (well at least during the years I have had them). You would think that Depo would have fixed this problem by now, but I guess they haven't.
This is my second set of Depo projector lights for my car. The first set got damaged (no fault of Depo) and had to be replaced after six years. The first set initially leaked and I had to dry the insides out thoroughly and seal them. This was a pain, so now I seal my Depos before installing them. After that I had no problems. These projectors have updated the looks of my car significantly over the OEM headlights. One thing: resist the urge to put in bulbs with more power than the standard 55 watts. You will get more light but you will melt the wiring harnesses in your car and inside the light housings. I did this and had to replace all the connectors. I find that 55 watt bulbs throw plenty of light.
I really like the way these Depos look and they are priced lower than OEM. Once you get the leaking problem solved, which takes about ten minutes if you do it as a preventative measure, the pluses outweigh the minuses on these lights.

Rola 59109 Adventure System with Swing Away Review

(More customer reviews)This particular item is fantastic! Functionality is awesome! The box itself is a little hard to handle by a single person, but can easily be handled by two. For security, go ahead and order the locking hitch pin, for stability reasons, order the hitch tightener, and for legality reasons, go ahead and order the license plate relocation kit with light. Unfortunately, I was awaiting the item for an upcoming trip, and when it arrived, the hardware and swingaway was not part of the shipment. The customer service that I received following that initial call was atrocious, and each process and escalation procedure that was, or wasn't followed needs to be looked at and corrected accordingly. I am in the customer service industry, and was extremely disappointed, not only in the ways that my issue was handled, but the number of times that I was lied to by representitives of the company. If one more persons reads me a script of how they are the supervisor on duty, and that a manager is not available, I'm going to scream, and insist yet AGAIN to speak to someone in the US. Overall a very sad, disappointing customer service experience, and I will make sure that hundreds and potentially thousands of people hear about it.

Duracell D2A 2 AMP 12V Battery Maintainer / Charger Review

(More customer reviews)I wanted a charger to keep my car battery charged (but not overcharged!) while I am absent on multi-week trips. So far the Duracell 2 Amp charger seems to be working well.
It is a three-stage charger. The specification says that depending on the current state of the battery, it will do a fast charge to around 80%, then a slower charge to almost full, then finally move to a lower voltage "floating" charge to keep the battery near 100% without overcharging.
I used a multimeter to watch the charging process. My battery was mostly full to start with, so the charger started charging at 14.1 volts (the slow charge mode) and then after a few hours moved to 12.7 volts (for the floating charge). These both seem appropriate voltages. In particular, the floating voltage of 12.7 volts should be safe for long-term battery maintenance.
After about two days on floating charge, my charger's red charging light finally went off. Over the next couple of weeks, when I checked the charger, the red charging light was mostly off but I occasionally noticed it on. It looks like the charger is moving between off and floating charge as needed for sustained maintenance.
I'll have to see how the charger holds up under long-term use, but so far everything looks good.
Update November 2010: I've been using this for two years now and I continue to be very happy with it. It's pleasant to come back from a four week absence to a fully charged car battery, with zero hassles!

Stanley J5C09 500 Amp Jump Starter Review

(More customer reviews)This unit should provide the capacity needed to jump start most cars. However, there are a few things to note:
1. This unit does not have an automatic float charging system. This means you can't just leave it plugged in & expect it to maintain a full charge. Instead, you must periodically unplug it and replug it in (at least every few months). If you forget, you will not only not have a charged unit when you need it, but, the battery can become damaged as well if left to fully discharge. Chargers costing as little as $20 have this feature; There's no reason to exclude it on a unit like this.
2. This unit does not include a power cord. Instead, you will need to use an extension cord; it needs to be a single dongle version because of the design of the unit.
3. This unit does not include a storage compartment. Not a big deal, but, if you have some accessories you want to tote (like a power cord or inflation needle), you won't have a convenient place to store it.
I've also had two PowerStation units. One died within a year and the other still works (I think). Time will tell how the Stanley stacks up.

Dynamat 19405 Xtreme Trunk Kit Review

It was the finishing touch after installing an entire system in my 01Maxima SE.For bass I'm bumping a 10" Kicker Comp Sub in a sealed enclosure driven by a 300W amp in the trunk. Before Dynamat - the rattles sounded like crap! After Dynamat, the majority of rattles are gone. I have 2 sheets left over (there's 5 in the trunk kit) so I'm gonna mat the remaining resounding trunk areas to completely cancel out all the rattles - hopefully. Just matting the rear deck and trunk lid - elliminated 90% of trunk rattles. Minor remaining rattles are coming during higher volumes and the bass energy effect on the tail lamp and lic plate areas. Being a bit of a perfectionist audiophile I want all the rattles gone. So far this works great and it looks cool in my trunk!

(More customer reviews)These valve stem extenders are easy to install over existing short vale stems, just screw the extender on tight and mount them in the wheel with included clips. Problem is, in my package only one of the two extenders was actually functional. One worked brilliantly, the other didn't move air through. I wasn't sure if we had installed it correctly, but a quick trip to the tire and wheel shop confirmed it wasn't functional. Camco quality assurance might need to step it up a bit.
